Among the six kinds of worship (Ganapathyam, Saivam,
Shaktham, Vaishnavam, Kaumaram and Sowram), Shaktham is the
worship of Shakthi Devi. This one expounds the worship of
Sri Mahavidya.
In
the worship of Sri Vidya, Bala is the base. As basement is
essential for any building, Bala is for Sri Vidya worship.
Her image is unique. The place of heart is the -Akasa
Sthalam'. Chidambaram is famous as -Akasa Sthalam' and Sri
Vidya's abode is in this special place.
Hundred and fifty years ago,
Sri Bala was worshipped by Pandits (Manthra sathagargal) and
she was kept in a box. Poojas were performed outside the
box. The time came to know about her importance. In 1953, as
her replica and in order to propagate her name and fame she
made Guruji Sri Thanga Sabapathy Deekshithar born in this
world.
Our Guruji from his childhood day onwards started
worshipping, decorating Sri Bala and playing with other
children. When he came to know about himself, Sri Bala
decided, Okay, we've to preach and bring him to our way.
She made him come to the
important city, Madurai. During that time our Guruji was in
need of Rs. 350/. In order to collect the endowment amount
from one of his contributors, he visited Madurai. During
that time, that man didn't understand the situation of our
Guruji and said, I know another theist and I wish to
introduce you to him. Please come with me.
He led him
there. The door was knocked at, and it opened. A very
elderly Brahmin, almost his backbone broken, lying on his
bed spoke, Bala, Bala, Bala! Have you taken this much time
to come and see me?
Guruji
couldn't understand anything. Later, that aged man asked,
Why should you starve? Immense hunger. Sri Bala herself
will offer you food.
Guruji turned his eyes
towards the entrance. There came a 9 year old girl with the
pooja vessel in her hand in which there was chithrannam,
small vadas and payasam, This is only for you, she uttered
and he ate it with much reverence as though it were the food
of Mother.
Later she brought him to conscious state and through that
aged man preached him many teaching. I brought you here
only to reveal myself to you. These words reverberated in
his heart. Instantly that aged pandit took the hundi and
handed it to him and said,This belongs to you!
As
soon as he had returned Chidambaram, in the pooja room he
realized that he was beset by the illustrious shining image
of Sri Bala. From that moment onwards, he started to
practise the Manthra Sadhana of Sri Bala. Sri Bala too
blessed him with her dharshan.
Thus the renowned Sri Devi Bala from the day she has accepted
the Nithya and Naimithika Pooja from the Guruji, has the
Saradha Navarathiri (Sep. Oct.) every year in the home of
Guruji. He has made arrangements for Suhasini Pooja (He
invites Sumangalis and offers them sarees, blousepieces,
swarnam and kumkum and turmeric) and for the Parayanam of
Devi Mahatmiyam and aradhana.
From
2002 onwards, during the 10 days of Navarathiri, for the
sake of the world and people, he has been doing many Yagas,
10th day Sadhachandi Mahayagam. During those days he feeds
the devotees, who come there, arranges cultural programmes
and spiritual lectures. In order to reach the children
easily, he arranges puppet show (Bommalatam), one of the
traditional Bharatha arts. Distribution of notebooks to
students, vessels, provision and clothes to the poor are
also undertaken (seeing God in the laughter of the poor). We
should visit such a renowned Sri Devi Bala and get her
blessings. Such a famous Sri Devi Bala considered Guruji's
house as Her abode and has been residing as though it were
her temple.
